The 2007 Rondo Awards:

Frank Wins "Artist Of The Year" Again!

Thanks to everyone who enjoyed my work and wrote in my name for "Artist Of The Year."  I'm very proud to have won this category for the second year in a row.

Congrats to my friend Tim Lucas, who won "Writer Of The Year" for the second year as well!

And into the Hall Of Fame - three friends of mine. Cortlandt Hull, my "brother" Bernie Wrightson, and posthumously, the wonderful Ben Chapman.

Frank to Star in The Lost Skeleton Returns Again!

We finished principal photography yesterday, and celebrated with a wrap party last night!

I've  landed a role in the much-anticipated sequel to 2004's cult comedy THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA. Like the original, this follow-up lovingly spoofs the sci-fi films of the 1950's. Returning are writer-director and star Larry Blamire, Fay Masterson, Brian Howe, Jennifer Blaire, Dan Conroy, Robert DeVeau, Andrew Parks and Susan McConnell. Added to the cast are myself, Kevin Quinn, Daniel Roebuck and veteran character actor HM Wynant. I play "Reet Pappin," a Government guy who enlists the help of Betty Armstrong to find her husband, Science guy Dr. Paul Armstrong, who has been missing for two years. This leads them to the Amazon, and the search for a valuable rock. But there are other forces at work, trying to get to that rock first...including The Lost Skeleton!

The script is hilarious, and we begin shooting in mid-February. Obey! Obey the Lost Skeleton! Obey!

Frank Added As A Guest For The Classic Movie Monster Con in October

"THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SKETCHY THINGS"

This all began in 1999, when I published the very first book, "Things Are A Bit Sketchy."  The sketches were all simple pen-and-ink caricatures and gesture drawings, but the response from fans of the genre was overwhelming.  I switched to pencil sketches for the follow-up, "The Things Remain Sketchy," and that became my signature style for four additional volumes.  The first FOUR editions are now out-of-print, and only a few copies of the FIFTH book remain.

This new seventh volume showcases a new look, as I bring our favorite monsters and horror actors to life with a more realistic, fine art approach.  The book has chapters representing several different mediums - charcoal, pencil, watercolor, pastels and oils.  The book also offers insight as to the creation and rendering of the pieces, and even tips for the budding young (or old!) Monster Kid artist.

All this PLUS an essay by renowned horror author David J. Schow.

42 pages, soft cover, perfect bound. And chock full of monsters. $24.00 shipping included. I accept PAYPAL!

FRANK'S GALLERY SHOW A HUGE HIT!

The exhibit showcased my oil paintings, but there were many of my caricatures on display as well.  Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, the Chaneys, Vincent Price and many other classic horror icons were represented, as well as the sci-fi films of the 1950's and the incredible creatures of Ray Harryhausen.

The opening night party featured music, wine and other interesting concoctions.  Among the guests who showed up to celebrate were  KATHY BURNS, artists BERNIE WRIGHTSON and WILLIAM STOUT, author DAVID J. SCHOW, directors TOM HOLLAND and KENNETH J. HALL, producer TED NEWSOM, publisher JESSIE LILLEY, writers TERRY PACE, BILL WARREN and RICHARD HARLAND SMITH, production designer ANTHONY TREMBLAY and Dr. Acula himself, FORREST J. ACKERMAN!
